Glide along the freshly groomed cross-country ski run, surrounded by the magnificent mountains of the Zillertal and the Pinzgau - this makes the heart of every winter sports enthusiast beat faster. The cross-country ski runs in Gerlos lead you into deeply snow-covered, untouched side valleys - a unique enjoyment of nature during your winter holiday in the Zillertal. A special highlight is the Schönachtal. "Run long" from December to Easter on freshly groomed, snow-sure cross-country trails!
Schönachtal cross-country trail: (distance from the hotel: 280 m)
Opposite the Hotel Oberwirt cross the bridge over the Gerlosbach and turn left. The cross-country trail starts there towards Schönachtal and leads slightly uphill for approx. 2 km to the so-called "Die Hintern". From here, a cleared winter hiking trail leads up to the interior of the Schönachtal valley. To the left over the wooden bridge the cross-country trail leads back to Gerlos. Shortly before the main road, turn left and return to the starting point. Highlight: 1.5 km of the trail from 17:00 to 22:00 illuminated!
Innertal - Funsingau Loipe: (distance from the hotel: 300 m)
At the car park at the Hotel Oberwirt you directly enter the cross-country ski run and walk past the sports field in the direction of the Innertal valley. At the height of the Isskogelbahn, an underpass leads under the Gerlosstraße (attention: height 180 cm!). Along the Gerlosbach (700 m no skating track) the trail continues past the Krafthaus to Funsingau. On the way back you can turn left over the wooden bridge at Innertalerhof and change to the Schönachtal cross-country trail.
Lackenalm cross-country trail:
The last parking possibility is at the so-called "Die Hintern". From there a cleared road (approx. 700 m) leads into the Schönachtal. Then the valley spreads out and the trail leads past the Stinkmoosalm. In the middle of and around the Stinkmoosalm the Stinkmoosloipe leads slightly hilly. If, however, you cross over the Schüttdamm to the right, a 2 km long, fantastic cross-country trail leads to the snack station Lackenalm on the right bank of the Schönachbach.
High altitude trail Lackenalm - Issalm
The cross-country trail leads from the Lackenalm on a quality trail (max. 4 m wide) of about 2 km slightly ascending to the idyllically situated Issalm, where it ends in an impressive valley head at the Issalwand walls. As this trail is shared by hikers and cross-country skiers and the way back is the same, special care and consideration is requested! If there is a danger of avalanches, the trail must be closed, and any closure must be followed.
